Walk Lanka Holidays introduces a special bird-watching tour in Sri Lanka for all bird lovers, nature lovers, and anyone looking to explore the flora and fauna of this beautiful island. Sri Lanka has ideal weather to attract birds escaping from winters and monsoons across the world. Relative to the size of the country, its birdlife is extremely rich.

Approximately 433 species of birds have been recorded – including resident, migratory and endemic birds. We will guide and take you to the most popular locations for bird-watching trails to make sure you have discovered the best of birds in Sri Lanka. You will be highlighted the following,

Follow bird watching ethics: leave nests in peace; minimize the loud, walk softly, silence your mobile phones, be patient and avoid chasing or intentionally flushing birds.

Pack a field bag for birding with a pair of binoculars, a camera, a notebook, drinks, and snacks.

Brightly colored clothes and wear dark colors to camouflage yourself.

While using bird hides, think beyond the box to spot birds on rooftops, canals, trees, parks, and dense areas.

The best time for bird watching is from October to April when the migratory season comes in.

Sri Lanka is rapidly becoming a twitches’ paradise and with this birding tour, you will be able to spot around 175 birds including all 34 endemic birds to Sri Lanka.

Keep an insect repellent within hand reach.

Do not get closer to nests or sit near nests for too long as they will fly away without coming to their shelters.
